Music Ministry

Music plays an important role in the worship life of our church. Our choir consists of several members of our congregation who love to sing. This season at CCOV we will also be welcoming guest musicians to our services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month .

Many of these guest musicians are active members of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and they share their talents with us, greatly enhancing our worship service.

Examples include Phoenix Symphony violinist Levon Zarasian who will share a program of Spanish music with us. Soprano Jenn Newman, who has been a frequent soloist with the Phoenix Symphony, will join us as will cellist Peter Anderegg for his second appearance at CCOV.

In addition to our Sunday worship service we also present several “Extraordinary Evenings of Music” in which we enjoy the performances of some of the best musicians in the valley. Our first “Extraordinary Evening of Music” will be on Monday, December 19th, at 7:00 P.M. The centerpiece of the program will be a special 6-player arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with Larry at the piano and a wind quintet of Phoenix Symphony players. Also starring in the program will be mezzo-soprano Shana Bousard, who will join with Larry and the quintet for songs by George Gershwin and George M. Cohan, and some holiday favorites.
