Music Ministry

Music plays an important role in the worship life of our church. Our choir consists of several members of our congregation who love to sing. This season at CCOV we will also be welcoming guest musicians to our services on the 1st Sunday of each month. Many of these guest musicians are active members of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and they share their talents with us, greatly enhancing our worship service.

In addition to our Sunday worship service we also present several “Extraordinary Evenings of Music” each year in which we enjoy the performances of some of the best musicians in the valley. Our first “Extraordinary Evening of Music” was held on Monday, December 19th, 2012. The centerpiece of the program was a special 6-player arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with Larry at the piano and a wind quintet of Phoenix Symphony players. Also starring in the program was mezzo-soprano Shana Bousard, who joined Larry and the quintet for songs by George Gershwin and George M. Cohan, and some holiday favorites. Subsequent events have been just as eclectic and entertaining. Look at the “News” link on our home page for information about the upcoming event.
